Common Meeple was set-up and is run by Mike Lear and Jack Smith. We met in 2016 while both serving in the British Army. Our friendship grew over shared interests in beer &coffee (common in a lot of soldiers!) and board games (perhaps less common!) and when we both hit a crossroads in our respective careers we decided to set up our own Board Game Cafe, in Swansea, based on these shared passions.

We wanted to set up a welcoming, community focused environment where everyone feels welcome and relaxed, and we hope that is what we've achieved. All of our beers are sourced from local breweries, all within 50mile of the cafe, as much of our food as possible is prepared fresh in our small kitchen and our coffee is from the brilliant Gower Coffee Company.

With the focus on community we decided to support a local charity every month and have so far raised money for Swansea branches of The Samaritans, Mind and Crises through our monthly charity nights where all cover charges go direct to the respective charity.
